The USGS National Map is making a small change to its dynamic Contour Overlay service URL starting Friday, March 1, 2019. The new Contour service URL will be https://carto.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/rest/services/contours/MapServer. The ‘c’ in contours is now a small letter rather than a capital letter. This change maintains consistency in the naming pattern across our overlay services and helps facilitate the automation in loading our data updates. There are no changes to the cartography of the product, only the URL.

On January 7, 2019 Google Earth updated it's measuring tool with some new features, as well as features previously found only in Google Earth Pro.  Read their official announcement for more information.
