Job Summary
Responsible for providing day-to-day technical and administrative support for the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program, including data collection, data management, mapping, and user support in alignment with the GIS Strategic Plan.
Essential Functions
(Duties may not include all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties which
may be performed.)
1. Develop and maintain GIS feature data for applications, analysis, and map production
using a variety of datasets, including transportation, engineering, environmental, and
cadastral data.
2. Collect, convert, validate, and document spatial data and metadata in both office and field
environments.
3. Perform routine GIS data manipulation and processing, including queries, geoprocessing,
basic spatial analysis, and cartographic production using desktop and web-based GIS
applications.
4. Assist in the preparation of lease, easement, or premises exhibits, including reading and
interpreting metes and bounds descriptions and preparing map exhibits.
5. Assist with the design, deployment, and maintenance of GIS web applications and field
data collection tools.
6. Perform tasks related to document scanning, indexing, content extraction, migration, and
metadata management.
7. Communicate with internal users to produce maps and reports and translate technical GIS
concepts into user-friendly information.
8. Provide training and support to end users for GIS tools and applications through in-person,
email, and remote sessions.
9. Travel to port facilities, construction projects, and terminal operations to support GIS data
collection and inspection activities, including work in inclement weather.
10.Work under the direction of, and provide support to, the Senior GIS Specialist.
